A place to play, reflect and connect in Ferntree Gully

Tim Neville Arboretum Ferntree Gully

Located on Dorset Road in Ferntree Gully, the Tim Neville Arboretum is a beloved 11-acre parkland that blends beautifully landscaped gardens with vibrant community spaces. Originally an apple orchard, the site was transformed into a public reserve in 1975 and named in 1993 after Tim Neville, a visionary leader and former Chief Executive of the City of Knox, whose dream was to create “The People’s Park”.

The arboretum offers something for everyone:

  • Lush gardens and wetlands, home to ducks and native wildlife

  • Boardwalks and walking paths through rose beds and cottage gardens

  • Picnic shelters, BBQs, and a large gazebo for family gatherings

  • An amphitheatre and sculptured wall, adding artistic flair to the landscape

  • Knox’s war memorial, nestled in a quiet corner for reflection

The recently upgraded playground is a standout feature, designed with inclusivity and imagination in mind. Highlights include:

  • A castle fort, flying fox, and dragon-themed water play

  • A quad bay swing set, wide slide, and interactive play elements

  • Wheelchair-accessible ramps, shade sails, and fenced access gates for safety and comfort.

Dogs are welcome on-lead, and there’s ample parking available on Dorset Road and Frances Crescent. Whether you're enjoying a peaceful walk, a lively playdate, or a community event, Tim Neville Arboretum is a place to relax, explore, and connect.
