Bendigo Bank Ferntree Gully was established through a grassroots effort driven by local residents, volunteers, and business owners who wanted a bank that actively reinvested in the community. Rather than profits leaving the area, the Community Bank model ensures they are returned to support local clubs, schools, events, and community organisations.
This community-first approach has resulted in an incredible $6 million being reinvested back into the local area, including more than $300,000 in 2025 alone, a milestone the branch proudly celebrates this year as it marks its 25th anniversary.
Meet the branch manager: Bash Keshtiar
Branch Manager Bash Keshtiar was drawn to Bendigo Bank Ferntree Gully because it brings together two things he cares deeply about: helping people achieve their financial goals and giving back to the community.
With over 20 years’ experience in banking and finance, Bash has worked across a range of personal and business banking roles. What continues to motivate him is the human side of finance, building long-term relationships, supporting local businesses to grow, and helping customers navigate important life decisions.
For Bash, the community bank model is unique. Every customer plays a role in creating local impact, and he’s passionate about helping people understand how their everyday banking choices contribute to stronger, more connected communities.

Support also extends beyond the sporting field to vital community organisations such as Foothills Community Care and Feed One Feed All, along with many other local clubs across Knox, including the Ferntree Gully All Abilities Cricket Club, Lysterfield Netball Club, Knox United Soccer Club, South East Eagles Basketball Club, and more.
