From home kitchen to Ferntree Gully favourite

Café Bits & Bites – Ferntree Gully

ree

When Neth began experimenting in the kitchen during the quiet months of the pandemic, she had no idea it would become a life-changing journey. What started as a hobby, cooking for friends and family, quickly turned into something bigger. The food spoke for itself, and soon people were reaching out, asking to place orders. That was the spark that led to the creation of Café Bits & Bites, a heartfelt food venture now proudly nestled in the heart of Ferntree Gully.

A taste for family and flavour

For Neth, cooking isn’t just a skill, it’s part of her DNA. Growing up in Sri Lanka, she spent countless hours around food, watching her father run cafés and restaurants. Those early experiences shaped her love for flavours, hospitality, and the joy of feeding others.

“I’ve always believed taste was in my blood,” she says. “Even without formal training, I’ve followed my instincts and put a lot of heart into everything I create.”

What began as a home-based operation, catering for intimate events and gatherings, quickly blossomed. As orders increased, Neth knew it was time to take a leap, and so Cafe Bits & Bites found its new home at 9 Alpine Street in Ferntree Gully.

Food made with heart (And Style)

Whether it’s an eye-catching grazing table, an elegant birthday cake, or a beautifully catered event, Cafe Bits & Bites is all about high-impact presentation paired with unforgettable flavour. Neth prides herself on attention to detail and personalised service, nothing is ever rushed or off-the-shelf." This is boutique-style catering,” she explains.

“Everything I make is crafted like I’m doing it for someone I love.”

The café itself carries that same vibe, warm, relaxed, and welcoming. Customers walk in and feel instantly at ease, enjoying food that’s both comforting and creative.

Community that feels like family

Although she only moved to Ferntree Gully in January, Neth already feels deeply connected to the area. "It has this really down-to-earth, supportive feel. The locals have embraced me in a way I didn’t expect – it’s been incredible,” she shares. And her customers? “They honestly feel like family,” Neth says with a smile. “It’s such a special feeling when people come back, bring their friends, or trust me with their events.”

Looking ahead

Neth’s journey is far from over. She dreams of expanding the café, exploring more personalised services, and continuing to create food experiences that leave a lasting impression. One thing she wants everyone to know? “Every single order matters to me. Whether it’s one cupcake or catering for 100 people, I put the same amount of love and care into everything I do.”
