Providence Foods – Ferntree Gully

Maddie’s story
In 2023, I took a leap of faith and became the owner of Providence Foods. After a fulfilling career in social work and community services, I decided to pursue my long-held dream of owning a business. At first, I didn’t envision having a physical store, but I’m glad I trusted my instincts and embraced the opportunity.
My partner, Andreas, has been absolutely essential to Providence's success, helping to shape the business and supporting me with every decision along the way.
Weighing in on a different kind of shopping
Providence Foods is more than a simple bulk food store. We offer a peaceful, welcoming space where customers can find nearly everything they need – in the quantities they want, and without the noise and bustle of a supermarket. At Providence Foods, you can shop at your own pace and according to your values, 7 days a week.
A jam jar-packed range
We offer a thoughtfully chosen selection of everyday essentials, as well as (necessary!) treats. Our top-selling items include olive oil, oats, flour, and coffee. Based on customer feedback, we've expanded our range: you will now find fresh food, skincare, health supplements, eco-friendly cleaning products, and giftware in store.
We offer a thoughtfully chosen selection of everyday essentials, as well as necessary treats.
Like our customers, we prioritise sustainability and strive to reduce our environmental impact. Our customers love our minimal-waste approach – some of them bring in jars they've been using for decades to refill.
Local flavour
We proudly showcase locally made products and promote local businesses. Our customers are incredibly supportive, and their feedback has been encouraging.
I'm excited to continue developing Providence Foods and creating a warm space that reflects our shared values of health, sustainability, and community.
